Olympic Scholarships for Athletes "Rio 2016" - NOC Information

Attn: NF'S on the Olympic Program; Dear Colleagues, I refer to the programme “Olympic Scholarships for Athletes - Rio 2016” within the framework of the BOC's Quadrennial Plan.

It is expected that scholarship holders will compete in the continental multi – sport games such as Commonwealth and or CAC Games in 2014 and the Pan Am Games 2015.

The first Olympic Scholarships for Rio will start on 1st September 2014 and the application procedure will open as from March 2014. Therefore, we would like to ask your Federation / Association to start the candidate selection process in order to provide us with a complete application file for each athlete on your Federation / Association priority list. PROGRAMME TIMELINE This programme will be operational from 1 September 2014 until 31 August 2016: · March 2014: launch of the application procedure · 1 May 2014: deadline for submitting applications to OS to be included in the first batch of allocations (starting on 1 September 2014)

· 1 September 2014: programme operational and scholarships activated

The objective of this programme, designed for elite athletes, is qualification for the Rio Olympic Games. The main criteria for the allocation of the scholarships will be the athletes’ level and past sporting experience, therefore, we would be grateful if you could submit applications only for candidates that you judge as having the right profile. We kindly ask you to indicate the training option wished for each athlete: Training Centre Option or NOC Training Option? We are currently revising our training centre network and since the number of places in each centre are limited, it is important for us to know early which option is preferred to try and accommodate your wish. According to our procedures, all application files will be sent to the relevant International Federation for their technical evaluation, therefore it is crucial to have complete files that are duly signed. All correspondence from the BOC regarding the Rio scholarship programme will be sent by email to the official email address of your Federation / Association and we also encourage you to send us your applications by email (1 scanned PDF file and named by athlete). For further information please do not hesitate to contact us. Best regards, Romell K. Knowles OLYMPIC SOLIDARITY Bahamas Olympic Committee
